Resolution
To promote prosperity among all income groups, the U.S. government should adopt an industrial policy.
For the affirmative:
Oren Cass is the executive director of American Compass and author of The Once and Future Worker: A Vision for the Renewal of Work in America. Previously, he was a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute and served as the domestic policy director for Mitt Romney’s 2012 presidential campaign.
For the negative:
Scott Lincicome is a Senior Fellow at the Cato Institute, where he writes on international and domestic economic issues, including: international trade; subsidies and industrial policy; manufacturing and global supply chains; and economic dynamism. Scott also is a Senior Visiting Lecturer at Duke University Law School.
