Resolution

The U.S. response to a Russian invasion of another country should involve the provision of ample weapons, supplies, and military intelligence to that country, together with organizing aggressive economic, political, and cultural sanctions on Russia.

For the affirmative:

Cathy Young was born in Moscow in 1963 and came to the United States in 1980. She graduated from Rutgers University. She writes on a wide range of cultural and political topics, including gender issues, intellectual freedom, diversity, education, American history, Russia and U.S.-Russian relations. Young has been a weekly columnist for The Boston Globe, The Detroit News and, currently, Newsday. She is a contributing editor at Reason. Until recently an associate editor and writer at Arc Digital, she joined The Bulwark as a staff writer earlier this year. Her work has appeared in numerous publications including The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, The Week and Foreign Policy. She is the author of Growing Up in Moscow (1989) and Ceasefire: Why Women and Men Must Join Forces to Achieve True Equality (1999).

For the negative:

Scott Horton is the author of the book Fool's Errand: Time to End the War in Afghanistan, managing director of the Libertarian Institute, host of Antiwar Radio for Pacifica Radio's KPFK 90.7 FM in Los Angeles and KUCR in Riverside, California, and the foreign policy interview podcast, The Scott Horton Show. Horton conducts interviews with journalists, politicians, pundits, lawyers and experts on foreign policy and war-time law. Horton has recorded more than 5,000 interviews since 2003. Scott is also the editorial director of the libertarian, non-interventionist website Antiwar.com. He’s made numerous appearances on other podcasts, including “The Tom Woods Show.”
